TV: How I met your mother.

Posted on December 26th, 2005 in by ChrisLim

I have 2 Tivo’s a Directv Tivo that can record 2 shows at once and a Series 2 that records one show at a time.

You would think that this is enough but every once in a while I miss a show. Well it happened last week. I missed an episode of “How I met your mother”, its a great show of how this guys meets his wife. He narrates a short spiel in the beginning and then tells a portion of the story.

Here’s an episode guide: How I Met Your Mother Episode Guide – How I Met Your Mother Season Episodes – TV.com

Do you know how your parents met? This is probably the second last thing a kid wants to know about their parents. You can figure out the first yourselves.

Well, 3 years ago, wifey received a cool book to note down our and our folks history, our likes and dislikes, what we do etc, before the birth of the baby. In short it was an interesting read.

I keep thinking of the little things that could have happened that would make our lives different.

For instances:

One day I was bored, just graduated highschool, stuck at home with no ride. I opened up a newspaper to the universities ads the same time my dad said “Well where do you want to go to?” and I spot this new college with a twinning program.

4 years later, if I wasn’t such a tinkerer, I wouldn’t have been caught in the lab by Chuck O. who in turn gave me a job that started my career.

2 years later, if my roomie wasn’t so lazy, I wouldn’t have left and went to the motel of those new arriving students from Malaysia, and got them to sublease my apartment, and in turn wouldn’t have met my wife.

6 years earlier, if I didn’t meet J. in Malaysia, I wouldn’t have met Don T. who gave me a job out of college, and in turn put me in a golf league , who I met Mike C. who in turn told me about the job I have now.

Do you ever wonder about the little things that could have made “the now” different?

A thousand minute events brought me to this place, time and situation. I have an adorable child, a perfect fit for a wife and a stable environment. It would have all changed if I didn’t sit down and read that newspaper (something I never do) one fateful day 18 years ago.

Christmas eve at Meijer

Yes, I’m one of those people that likes to go to supermarkets on the eve of holidays.

I dropped by Meijer 45 minutes before they closed to pick up some groceries. To their credit they had about 25 checkout lanes open to help alleviate the sick 1000+ people who were there with me.

The nice annoucer kept chirping every 5 minutes the countdown time for when they were to close. She kept mentioning that we should hurry up and get to the cashiers and expect an overly long wait. LOL!

Most of the cashiers looked extremely tired.

I was out at 5 minutes before they closed, the parking lot was almost empty. It was full when I first arrived. Happy Christmas!
