How to transfer a domain OUT of GoDaddy
This has been a pain TWICE already, they’ve gotten it so convoluted that its impossible to get it moved from their clutches easily. It is however QUITE easy to move to their services.
Steps:
- Login to GoDaddy
- Unlock your domain via Domain Manager
- Remove all other services like Domain Privacy (domainbyproxy which uses a DIFFERENT user login) and Business listing
- Change ONLY the email address to the email address you monitor the most from the Technical, Billing and Administrative contact. NOTE: Do not change too much information as in the contract they may “LOCK” your domain for 60 days if a big change is made.
- Start the transfer from the other Domain Provider
- Watch the emails that you’re getting in. There is an email with a link that “cancels” the transaction DON’T Click it.
